The Ministry of Finance says government workers who have experienced a delay in the payment of their monthly salaries will be paid tomorrow. State Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Senator Arthur Williams, says most of the departments affected fall under the Office of the Prime Minister and included the Jamaica Fire Brigade and three parish councils. Senator Williams stressed that the delay resulted from late submissions from some departments and not from the Ministry of Finance's end, as the Ministry has fully funded this month's payroll. "Today is the changeover to the new central treasury management system, and yes there were a few glitches in that. There are some institutions which did not submit the information in time for them to get their pay today. That will be sorted out presently," he explained. Teachers also received their salaries late yesterday as a result of the glitch.
