Following weeks of doubt over whether the Gibson Relays would go ahead on February 26, RJR Sports has learnt that the relay carnival is to be staged on March 12.This after the Ventley Brown chaired Organizing Committee of the Lucozade/GC Foster Classics agreed to switch dates with the organisers of the Gibson Relays on Thursday."We really are happy to assist Gibson Relays. It would be very hard to see the cancellation of a very historic event even though we also have a strong footing on the athletics calendar. But this year will be the first year that we will be giving up the right as the last chance to qualify for (Boys and Girls) Champs. Our meet will go on the February 26," said Mr. Brown."A lot of teams are still down to participate and we will be affected because we had invited some overseas teams down to compete but we are trying to get them to come for February 26. But we're happy to come to an agreement with Gibson Relays and I know that they are really happy with the end results of all of this," he addedNeville "Teddy' McCook, Chairman of the Gibson Relays' Organising Committee could not be reached for a reaction.Fears that the 2011 Gibson Relays would be cancelled arose earlier this month following reports that the national stadium track would not be ready in time for the February 26 date.
