Police are maintaining a strong presence along major thoroughfares in St. Thomas following a massive roadblock this morning by truckers. The roads leading from St. Thomas into St. Andrew were blocked from as early as 3:00 this morning. The truckers reportedly dumped dirt on the roadways blocking them. Superintendent in Charge of St. Thomas, Mervin McNab says truck drivers were protesting the hike in the commercial carrier license fees. The fees were increased by the Transport Authority with effect from January 17. Superintendent McNab says the roadways were cleared about 7:30 a.m. He adds that commuters were severely affected by the blockages
