The Manatt/Coke commission of enquiry is expected to continue today, with former Police Commissioner Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin, among those expected to give testimony. Cross examination of Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Jeremy Taylor, is also expected to continue today. Yesterday, during the cross examination attorneys for the People's National Party (PNP) accused the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) of leaking four secret Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) to their attorney Frank Phipps. The attorneys voiced their suspicion as Phipps made precise reference to paragraphs in the documents in his cross-examination of Taylor. Attorney, Patrick Atkinson, demanded to know whether Phipps had a copy of the document which the Chairman Emil George had instructed were not to be photocopied. When asked by Chairman of the commission whether he had a copy of the documents, Phipps maintained he would not say what was in his brief. He also insisted that he was not obligated to show his brief to the other attorneys. However, attorney for the PNP, KD Knight said it was unfair that the legal representative of the JLP had the document while the same privilege was not accorded to the PNP. The Chairman of the Commission, Emil George then decided to allow all the attorneys a copy of the document for use during cross-examination.
