There will be no legal battle between Energy Minister James Robertson and St Thomas businessman, Ian Johnson, the man who made damning allegations against him last year.Professor David Rowe, the Florida-based attorney, who is representing Mr. Johnson, has decided to withdraw all lawsuits he had filed against the embattled Energy Minister in the Circuit Court in Florida.Professor Rowe made his decision, following an agreement reached with Mr. Robertson attorneys. In a statement on Monday, Professor Rowe said he was withdrawing the action based on new information submitted to him last week.According to him, the facts now presented to him are not sufficient to corroborate and support continuing the action against Mr. Robertson.Mr. Rowe's concession comes more than two weeks after a Florida Circuit judge threw out a lawsuit filed by Mr. Johnson against the Energy Minister. In dismissing the case, Judge Richard Eade said Mr. Johnson needs to prove why the lawsuit is being filed in Broward County, and not in Jamaica.RJR News spoke with Kirk Barrow, Mr. Robertson's Florida-based attorney, who said his client has agreed to withdraw the defamation suit he had filed against Professor Rowe."We came to an agreement that Mr. Rowe, upon further investigation of the allegations by Ian Johnson, the evidence was not there to move forward in a civil or criminal matter and Mr. Rowe has decided that he will withdraw from all litigation involving the alleged statements by Mr. Johnson. The matters that were filed in federal court and state court in Florida, will be dismissed and Mr. Rowe will not be the defendant in any action by the minister here in Jamaica," Mr. Barrow said.
