The 33- year old councillor for the Ritchies Division of the Clarendon Parish Council, who was arrested in connection with a stolen vehicle, on Thursday, has been granted bail. Orville Salmon, who is charged with unlawful possession of a motor vehicle, was offered $300,000 bail when he appeared before the Lionel Town Resident Magistrates Court on Friday.He is due to return to court on March 3.In granting Mr. Salmon bail, the presiding judge ordered that he report to the Williamsfield Police three times per week.The arresting officer told the court that the police on Thursday, received information about a car that was parked on the compound of the Clarendon Parish Council.When the investigators went to the compound and made enquiries, it is reported that Mr. Salmon told them that he was the owner of the vehicle.The investigators also said he failed to provide a proper answer when asked how he came into possession of the vehicle.Mr. Salmon was then taken to the May Pen Police Station where he was arrested and charged.During the court hearing, the investigators revealed that the documentation for the car was not in proper order.The court was also told that a second man, a paralegal officer who is a friend of Mr. Salmon, was also arrested on Thursday after he turned up at the May Pen Police Station to assist his friend in the matter.However, he has yet to be charged.His attorneys have asked that he be charged or released by mid-day on Monday.
