ST ELIZABETH-BORN businessman Errol Brennan wants one of Jamaica's leading universities to establish a campus in the parish in an effort to provide better access to higher education for students in the breadbasket parish.Errol BrennanPhoto Credit: (Gleaner)Brennan has an altruistic concern for human welfare and advancement.This has resulted in him working tirelessly to assist the less fortunate and other citizens in his parish."I love St Elizabeth and whatever I do in life, St Elizabeth will play an important part in it. I am, however, concerned about the development in the parish, especially in the northern side, and believe it is part of my duty to assist in the development," Brennan told The Gleaner recently."I would love to see one of the major universities develop a campus in the parish so that our children can have better access to a higher level of education," said Brennan.Tremendous potentialHe noted that there is tremendous potential for growth in the parish."We have the best climate, the best fruits and vegetables and the best soil, therefore we have the capacity to be the leaders in Jamaica and the world, all we need is proper management," he said.Meanwhile, Brennan's philanthropic efforts have contributed significantly in his parish and other communities across the island.Just last year, he sponsored a Health Fair in Happy Grove near Newmarket, St Elizabeth, providing medical and dental services to the residents free of cost. Children were also treated to a fun day. He has also been contributing to the St Elizabeth Homecoming Foundation scholarship programme for many years.Passion for needy"I have always been giving back, I have a passion for the needy and the less fortunate, I have set up the Errol Brennan Foundation International, and much emphasis will be placed on widows and orphans, though the scope of work will not be restricted," the managing director of Sunshine Auto told The Gleaner.Brennan's commitment to service was demonstrated in 2010 when he cancelled his company's annual Christmas party in order to build a house for Selvyn Coke, a man he had never met and only read about his plight in The Gleaner.While he has been giving to many charitable organisations and missions, the highlight of his work is with the Happy Grove youth group which he mentors and supports.A career lasting 20 years in the public sector saw Brennan, a graduate of St George's College, serving in various positions in the Ministry of Transport and the Office of the Prime Minister, serving three different prime ministers.http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...77771142266115
