Normality has returned to the Wyndham Kingston Hotel following a protest by some line staff today (February 16). The workers were protesting the 2 % offer being made by the hotel's management saying that amount is inadequate.Workers protest outside the Wyndham Hotel this morning in New KingstonPresident of the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union (BITU) Kavan Gayle told Irie FM News that the workers resumed duties at 3 p.m. The resumption of work followed a meeting between the Union and the management of the hotel this afternoon. Mr. Gayle says the wage dispute stems from the delay in granting the increase for the contract period effective January 2009. He says the hotel indicated its intention to take the matter to the Industrial Disputes Tribunal (IDT). But, Mr. Gayle says the matter can best be resolved by both parties coming to an amicable agreement outside the IDT. Meanwhile, two other meetings have been scheduled to try continue the wage negotiations. The first is set for tomorrow (February 17) at the Labour Ministry and the other will be held next Monday, February 21. And, for its part the management of the Wyndham Kingston Hotel says operations at the hotel were not adversely affected by the worker demonstration. A statement from the hotel says while there were a few hours of minor interruption in the early morning, the hotel is back to its normal operations and all employees are back to work. The statement added that the hotel's management is eager to work with the BITU, which represents the employees, to come to an amicable agreement.http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...78902015486361
