In-form batsman Marlon Samuels scored a century as three-time defending champions Jamaica and Barbados played to a draw in their third round match of the Regional first-class championship at Kensington Oval today. Samuels, who was unbeaten on 58 overnight with the scores on 114 for two, went on to stroke 105. His knock helped Jamaica to 340-8, a lead of 342, before the game was called off. Wavell Hinds, the other overnight batsman, went on to score 57; while West Indies player Brendan Nash was unbeaten on 41 and Jerome Taylor chipped in with 30. Final scores in the match:- Jamaica 324 and 340-8; Barbados 322. Following the third round of matches, Jamaica, Combined Campuses and Colleges and England Lions are locked atop the table on 24 points each. The game between England Lions and hosts Trinidad and Tobago at Queen's Park Oval also ended in a draw. T&T, chasing 319 for victory, reached 196-3 before the game was called off. At the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground in Antigua, Combined Campuses & Colleges completed a 158-run victory over Leeward Islands on the stroke of the lunch interval. The Leewards, chasing 370 for victory, were bowled out for 211 after resuming the final day on 70-5. Final scores in that match: Combined Campuses and Colleges 286 and 269; Leewards 186 and 221. The other match of the round was completed yesterday as Windward Islands scored a four-wicket victory over Guyana at the Arnos Vale Multi-Purpose Complex in St Vincent.
