A blue tsunami is expected to sweep Trinidad and Tobago next week as hundreds of police officers will heighten a sick out action in protest against the 5 percent pay increase offered by the chief personnel officer, Stephanie Lewis. The Guardian newspaper reported on Thursday that Police Association president, Sgt Anand Ramessar said executive members of his association met on Wednesday and they have decided to take drastic action since their requests have been completely ignored. Ramessar said that his members are furious and they plan to cripple key areas. However, deputy police commissioner, Jack Ewatski said that he is arranging to have a contingency plan in place to ensure that law and order is maintained and that key areas and places are well protected if and when the police officers take industrial action.
