Is your skin color affecting the way your community of family, friends and others treat you?
Award-winning feature film director and cinematographer seeks interviews with people of color who have been personally affected by colorism, which is when people from the same ethnic group judge one another in prejudicial or preferential ways due to differences in skin tone.
In this large scale, international feature documentary and television special, our production team is traveling to communities of color in North America, Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and beyond in search of various perspectives on this pervasive and enduring social phenomenon. An intimate-yet-global portrait of colorism painted by one of the world’s master cinematographers, this program is a compelling meditation on skin color that’s anything but black and white.
People chosen to share their stories will be featured alongside a select cast of internationally renowned thinkers, writers, actors, everyday people and cultural icons – everyone from Oscar-winning actor Lou Gossett Jr. to Chinese supermodel Du Juan, among many others.
Those interested in discussing how colorism impacts their lives are invited to contact Tristin Morton at [email protected] for more information.
