MONTEGO BAY, St James - The Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF), in collaboration with a number of private sector companies, is to spend $200 million over the next few months to beautify the roadway between the Sangster International Airport and the Iberostar Hotel in Rose Hall, St James. "Massive upgrading is to be done in that area," TEF chairman Godfrey Dyer told the annual general meeting of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday. "There will be beautification, installation of street lights and traffic lights. the whole works," Dyer said.
He said on completion, the roughly eight-mile stretch of road will be called the 'Elegant Corridor'.
"I tell you, whenever it is finished it is going to be a beauty, it is going to be an attraction that both locals and visitors can feel proud of when they pass there," said the TEF chairman.
He later told the Observer that work on the project is expected to begin within another two weeks.
