Public agencies are being warned not to usurp the authority of political representatives in their constituencies.
Making her contribution to the sectoral debate in Gordon House Tuesday, Member of Parliament for South East St. Andrew Maxine Henry-Wilson took exception to what she described as breaches of time honoured protocol by some ministers and their agency heads.

"The MP is the elected people's representative and must be treated as such and therefore no agency should be doing any work in any MP's constituency without due regard for or consultation with the MP. We would like to see these principles observed, respect is due," said Mrs. Henry-Wilson.
"It is the flouting of this type of respect that ultimately leads to disregard for and the devaluing of policy. The agencies must consult with the Members of Parliament," she said.
