<span style="font-weight: bold">Couple to fight extradition </span>

Former People's National Party (PNP) Councillor/Caretaker Yvette Scott Patterson who is facing extradition to the United States (US) was again remanded when she appeared in court Thursday.
Mrs. Scott Patterson and her husband Delroy Patterson are <span style="font-weight: bold">wanted by US prosecutors for fraud involving more than US$10 million </span>or more than J$700 million.
The Court was told that Mr. Patterson is ready to surrender to US prosecutors but Mrs. Patterson is challenging her extradition.
Mr. Patterson is scheduled to return to the Half-Way-Tree Criminal Court on Friday where he is expected to sign his extradition papers.
Mrs. Scott Patterson, a mortgage broker and her 45-year-old husband were arrested earlier this year on extradition warrants.
<span style="font-weight: bold">US prosecutors claim they fleeced millions of dollars from Fort Lauderdale residents in a mortgage racket and later fled to Jamaica.</span>
<span style="font-weight: bold">She is alleged to have submitted fraudulent mortgage applications and false documentation to lenders around the United States by using straw buyers and the stolen identities of innocent victims</span>.
Mrs. Scott Patterson who has been operating a business since her return to Jamaica, contested the local government election on behalf of the PNP for the Sydenham Division in St. Catherine in December.
