Over thousand pounds of ganja seized in St. Elizabeth

The narcotics police have made another major drug bust.

More than 1,000 pounds of ganja was seized Sunday during a major anti-narcotics operation in St. Elizabeth.

Two men were also arrested and a motor car seized.

The narcotics police supported by the St. Elizabeth and Manchester police, conducted operations in Slipe, Burnt Savannah and Chocolate Hole in Junction.

During their operations in Burnt Savannah, premises were searched and ganja weighing just over one kilogramme was seized, along with a motorcar.

The police said the ganja seized in Burnt Savannah was part of a larger shipment that was being prepared for export in the guns for drugs trade between Haiti and Jamaica.

Over in Chocolate Hole more than 1,000 pounds of ganja was destroyed by the cops.

One hectare of fully grown ganja and 10,000 seedlings were also destroyed by the police.

The police told RJR News that <span style="font-weight: bold">they have intensified their operations in St. Elizabeth which is a major cultivator of ganja.</span>

well it was an open secret dung deh fi a long while...all dem splendiferous house dem no juss build by people a sen remittance alone.....an mi even had a DEA guy ovah yah tell me seh di bauxite ship dem whe leff from dung deh was notorious fi ha weed pon it..

Ganja farming is not easy.... It is intensive hard work...It demonstrates that Jamaicans will work if there is a consejencial reward for their hard work.... I have known too many people in my youth who planted a few plants to supply them with the basics...

Last month there was the horror of the fire that destroyed acres of land... This was normal in ly youth on three occassions I can remeber half our farm was burnt down as a result of fire that got away due to police action.. This time is the first time I have ever heard the police acknowledge their incompetence!

As I recall the police were less than sympathtic and never once bothered to even call the fire brigade.. (As I recall being told on one occassion that it was socialist time and since we were not socialist and not black we did not deserve the protection of the state! or words to that effect.. And yet another reason to tell my sons not to date black women! ).. I might add that there was no ganja on our land!

I must admit that the police in ST E had a more dont see dont intradict attitude for a long time.... As I recall spending many an evening watching the planes land at the strips on low land.. including one that was alledgedly rented from a MP...

i'll raise u wid i know of nuff cops who use to plant dem own an raid it to get promotion...use to be a sure shot promotion route...u know wat i find unusual about ur poor red me stories, u give the upper hand to 'black'peeps wich is sooooo out of character for the average red Jamaican....fi real....but to each his own i guess...an every norm ha an exception so go figga

mi not being mean but i find ur reference to ur being fairskinned an yet sooo deprived in Ja interms of everyting a bit farfetched...true, we all have different experiences, but the era u grew up in, fair skin was deferred to as a matta of habit...true,on di kid level, children will be cruel,but ovah all, mi juss no buy di downtrodden,beatdown ting...even poor highbrown could sign him way tru getting catered to even wid notten in him pocket...an in country too...puhleez...but den i am di resident cynic so who knows....juss so u know weh mi coming from cause people tink mi juss mean fi mean sake....

now evan.. have I ever mentioned the colour of my skin ever ?????? No I have mentioned that I am taino.. I have mentioned that I am not black ... As I am Taino and was treated badly.... Note I have never said I was treated worst than any one else... For every story I have I have an equal one where Jamaicans of every persusion have been treated with equal disdain and contempt by other Jamaicans... It was not white people who lighted the orange street fire or fired the shots at Breaton.... Nor were the order givers white...green or red..

I actually once heard a roumour that every single MP of a certain goverment had a ganja feild... Now that is Jamaica story....
