People's National Party (PNP) Vice President Dr. Peter Phillips is on the defensive in the wake of reports of an incident on Tuesday night involving a group of his supporters in St. Mary.
There were claims of a confrontation involving his supporters and a group of persons backing PNP President Portia Simpson-Miller at a divisional meeting in Oracabessa.
But persons who were at the meeting said while there was a verbal clash between the two groups there was no fracas.
It is reported that the incident was triggered by a member who took the stage and endorsed Dr. Phillips.
This did not go down well with some members of the Simpson-Miller group who angrily objected to his endorsement.
Dr. Philips sought to quash reports of a nasty confrontation.
"I don't know of any. I spoke at a divisional meeting and I was welcomed. I spoke and left in peace and with goodwill to everyone. I have received no report of a fracas," said Dr. Phillips.
