the challenge is ensuring the child she wants will qualify as an orphan for US immigration. She has contacted all the proper sources and is doing her best but it is a matter of US immigration which has a history of being very particular about the children coming in via the I-600 in Jamaica.. ie.. the Jamaica office is notorious for their practices.
Short of one of the parents dying it is going to be a tough haul to adopt the child.

Hi
Yes I have contacted all that I know to contact. I just want to be prepared if we get to Jamaica so the officer sees that mother can't care for her. The CDA has this documented in their file after interviewing both parents. The father signed over his rights. I am hoping that the fact she is living with her aunt will help. I mean the mother has nothing to give her. We even had to buy coal to cook her food, even if the child has a cold she is calling me from Jamaica to tell me rather than taking her to the doctor. She also has an older daughter who is malnourished. I believe she is 4. But I just can't have my relative living like that. Nobody but the aunt is willing to help the baby out. The childs maternal grandmother is pregnant again and the paternal grandmother doesn't want her around too much because she doesnt want to get in the middle of her father going outside his relationship and get caught up in their bangarang. So I just dont know how to demonstrate proof of the situation to the officer.
