Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Paula Llewelyn, slapped another corruption charge on former State Minister for Energy, Kern Spencer, Thursday morning.
Mr. Spencer and two alleged conspirators appeared in the Half Way Tree Criminal Court for a trial date to be set in the Cuban Light Bulb criminal case.
DPP Llewelyn informed the court that the St. Elizabeth Member of Parliament would now be charged with breaches of Section Fourteen 1-B of the Corruption Prevention Act while the other charge relating to Section Fourteen 1-A, would be withdrawn.
Lead defence attorney Patrick Atkinson expressed outrage that a new criminal charge is facing his client.
January 12, 2009 is the date set for the start of the trial against Mr. Spencer, Colleen Wright and businessman, Rodney Chin, whose bails were extended by Senior Magistrate Glen Brown.
The trial is expected to last for two weeks.
