For the fourth time in less than a week, a wave of panic has swept through a Western Jamaica community following reports of a group of men attempting to carry out an abduction.
However this time it was not a student but an adult who was also injured in the process.
It's understood that shortly after noon, a group of men traveling in a Toyota motorcar attempted to grab the woman who fought them off.
She reportedly sustained a wound to her hand in the process and was treated at a nearby health centre.
It is alleged that students and residents who saw what happened rushed at the vehicle which sped off leaving one of the accused men behind.
Residents armed with weapons have since been combing the area for him.
They also converged at the Bethel Town All-Age School and Chairman of the school board Reverend Junior Ross says the incident children in the early closure of the institution.
On Monday frightened parents stormed a Primary school in Lucea to collect their students after being called by students who claimed to have seen a suspicious vehicle.
Both the police and school officials say it was a false alarm.
Last week there were reports of attempted abductions in Westmoreland, and prior to that it is alleged that a man from Hanover was abducted and buggered in St James.
The police confirmed that incident. RJR News understands that the victim has since committed suicide.
However with the allegations being bandied about a tense atmosphere has been hanging over sections of the west as some residents are alleging that the men are infected with a life threatening ailment.
