Canadian authorities have begun to revoke the passports of its citizens who have joined extremist groups in Syria and Iraq, said the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, Chris Alexander.
The minister said his department also revoked passports of several Canadians who have not yet left the country to become militants, but had such intentions.
"We don't want the good name of Canada to be tarnished by these people," - said Chris Alexander.
The minister did not porovide the exact number of canceled passports: "It's safe to say that there are cases of cancellation of passports, including of those citizens who have gone to Syria and Iraq. I would not want to go into details, but there are many cases."

The German politicians have also came up with similar initiative to develop a package of measures to combat Islamism. They are also calling to cancel the passports of the citizens of Germany, that are the members of foreign Islamic terrorist organizations.
