Are his rights being violated?

aren't there provisions in Jamaica's laws to protect the criminally insane?]

Now with sketchy reporting, it is difficult to know the veracity of news received from yaawd.

I for one did a complete 360 on the death penalty, having opposed it and felt that all criminals could be rehabilitated. However considering the brazen brutality that some criminals employ in murdering their victims, I decided that these people should pay the ultimate price.

Regardless, if a person who murders is "insane" it makes no sense to execute them for the simple reason that it could be argued that if these people were sane, they most likely wouldn't have committed the criminal act.

If this guy claimed that he was hearing voices, was he given the benefit of the doubt and allowed to undergo a battery of psychiatric tests to prove whether he [a] could even stand trial, and[b] be well enough to even testify?

If the news that I have read failed to mention this, then of what use are they? This is a vital piece of information that should not be omitted, and if the killer did undergo the tests, what were the results.


Gaawd knows mi tyad to hear of the brutal murders coming from yaawd, but in the same breath, mi sincerely hope that criminally insane ppl get full legal representation, to ensure that the State will not "murder" them as retribution for crimes that they commited while in unsound mind.

Every country gets the crime rate and jusrice system they are wiolling to p[ay for. There are many ways to pay thise costs.
some countries pay itt in lives lost, some in fear and distrust,others in trusting their fellow cicizens to allow them to carry firearsm, not jsut the none whites and favoured balcks.
Jamaica is presently paying ther bills with lives lost. as soon as thry find ut too costly,they will chose the method they find less costly.
Until then we can only recommend they examine their startegy.

I see where you are coming from and headed with t his Dr. Dudd, however in this particular case/scenario, that doesn't answer the question.

i also gave the all citizens carry a gun argument some support, but again, with the brazen criminals who might be high on dope, they might just turn the place into the Wild Wild West.

apparently these children were asleep, so even if they were adults who had a gun, they were sleeping and might not have been able to draw their's in time.

The citizens in his area also allegedly said that if he returns to the area he will be a dead duck..can you imagine everyone who said that taking a shot at him?

Our courts are notorious for violating the rights of the marginalized, especially those who cannot afford big time lawyers; so I hope the Jamaicans for Justice people have their eyes open even wider now.

If he realozes that most people have guns,he wouldnot even want to find out that they were asleep
He whole gun strategy when implemented thoroughly, will act as a deterrent. The knowledge that if one decide to use the gun wantonly, would be stifly opposed by your target,is usually enoigh tio create law abidung citizens out if these ne'ar do wells..

Yuh nat sure about what?

That mostly mad people kill their RELATIVES? What does that have to do with him having been at a bar earlier? Mad people behave in strange ways, so bizarre that even trained psychiatrists cannot figure them out

What in your comments point to the fact that he could NOT have been insane? Who said that he is or isn't? One report said that he was clad only in socks and underpants [this is yyy mi question the VERACITY OF SKETCHY news coming out of Jamaica...often there is more than is told.


The other report also said he had INCESTUOUS feelings for the youngest one...if that is NOT insanity, in my opinion, then nothing is...

Now back to the question at hand. This is important since it is one of the first, if not the first order for execution since it was decided to use it again as a deterrent....<span style="font-weight: bold">and if if if our Courts would deny full rights to the ACCUSED in an effort to satisfy public sentiments, [and I am NOT saying that this is the case] then the country will be in even tougher shape.</span>

Interesting.

You have a point up to a point, but you must also understand the the majority of criminals would be armed, especially now that they have a right to bear arms...considering the fact that &quot;law abiding citizens&quot; would frown on the idea of having to take another person's life, even in self-defence..
