MOB MURDERS GRANNY KILLER - Man tied to tree, chopped, beaten
Jerome Campbell, the 24-year-old man accused of stabbing his 90-year-old grandmother to death in Trelawny last week, suffered a similar fate yesterday after a mob chopped him to death.
The man had allegedly killed his grandmother over a cellphone.
Information reaching THE STAR is that Campbell, who had been on the run since the October 7 killing of his granny, Edith Morrison, had been slowed down on the weekend after a run-in with a licensed firearm holder last Friday. A relative of Campbell told this newspaper the man had attacked a business owner in Brampton, Trelawny, chopping him. The relative said that the businessman retaliated, shooting Campbell in the side. The injured man then ran off into bushes.
"So (yesterday) him (Campbell) see a van up the road inna de before day and come outta de bush. Him go ask the van driver fi bring him go doctor," the relative said. The relative said that it was when Campbell came out of the bushes that residents identified him as the killer of the 90-year-old woman and the attacker of the businessman earlier. They then set on Campbell. "Dem tie him up pon a lightpost and beat him. Dem chop him up to."
mourning
The relative told THE STAR that the family was not mourning the loss of Campbell as they now feel safe. She also said that people in the community were afraid to walk freely at nights since he had been at large. All that has changed with his death yesterday, she added.
Campbell's death was followed by another mob killing in the same district yesterday, as a 15-year-old youth was hacked to death by an angry mob. the teen was said to be one of three robbers who broke into a business establishment and stole a number of items.
He has been identified as Mario Fraser of a Westmoreland address.
The thieves were reportedly seen making their escape but were chased into a nearby community and cornered.
The youth is said to have pulled a gun but was still attacked by the mob and hacked to death.
The gun was later handed over to the police. The other two men managed to escape the mob
