The Bank of Jamaica Governor Derick Lattibeudiere has demitted office with immediate effect.
The finance ministry says the decision was by mutual agreement between the finance minister Audley Shaw, the public service and Mr. Lattibeudiere.
The ministry has appointed Bryan Wynter as the new governor with effect from December 1.
Mr. Wynter is a former deputy governor of the central bank and a former executive director of the Financial Services Commission.
He’s currently employed to the Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Centre in Barbados as advisor on Capital Markets and the Financial Sector.
The ministry says in the interim the senior deputy governor of the central bank, Audrey Anderson will be in charge of the BOJ until November 30.
Mr. Lattibeaudiere was the co-ordinator of the technical team in the negotiations with the International Monetary Fund
