'JOHN GOTTI' SHOT DEAD
Richard 'John Gotti' Corbeck, 24, of Ebanks Close, Bridgeport, St. Catherine was shot and killed by gunmen at his home yesterday morning. Police say about 4:15 a.m., Corbeck was at home with family members when their door was kicked opened and three armed men entered. The intruders ordered him outside and immediately opened fire killing him on the spot. The police were summoned, the crime scene processed and the body removed to the morgue.
WOMAN MURDERED
Marjorie 'Lena' Wright, 47, of Dumbeholden, Portmore, St. Catherine was shot and killed by gunmen at Gilbert Lane in the parish on Thursday. Reports are that about 6 p.m., Wright was closing her business place when she was pounced on by two gunmen who shot her. She died on the spot. Police investigators went to the area and processed the crime scene and the body was removed to the morgue. The St. Catherine Homicide Unit is investigating.
FIRE KILLS 6-Y-O
Six-year-old Marvin Smith of White Wing, Olympic Way, Kingston 11 was burnt to death in a fire at his home yesterday morning. The fire also destroyed the three bedroom house his family occupied. Reports received by the CCN are that about 8 a.m., the mother of the child left him to attend a nearby shop. On her return she saw fire coming from the house. She raised an alarm and neighbours came to her assistance, but not before the house was engulfed with flames. The police and the fire brigade were summoned and one unit from the Trench Town Fire Department responded and carried out cooling down exercises. The charred remains of Marvin was later removed from the rubble.
CYCLISTS DIE IN COLLISION
A pedal cyclist and a motorcyclist died from injuries they sustained after colliding on the Old Harbour Road vicinity Valley Road, St. Catherine yesterday. Dead are Robert Shaw, 30, of Dunrobin Court, Kingston 8 and a man known only as 'Tony' of Spanish Town, St. Catherine.
Police say that about 1:40 p.m., Shaw was driving a Honda CBR motorcycle along the Old Harbour Road heading towards Spanish Town. On reaching a section of the roadway, the bike collided with the bicycle which was being ridden by 'Tony' in the same direction. Both men received multiple injuries and were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where they died while being treated.
