Banks spared again Rulers call shots

Despite public demands, banks have again been spared taxes on their profits.

Investors have also been spared increased taxes on the interest they get on government paper.

The Prime Minister said taxing banks or increasing the taxes on the interest earned through Government paper would be a wrong move at this time.

I know one ting, Golding have fe do wat dem tell him,omar and pj did their biding too ..only one leader dare to defy them ,that was MICHEAL MANLEY..And them spare no effort to undermine and destroy his government.Psoj ,cia jlp all collaborate to destroy Manley's move towards a society void of inequities.

Well one ting was,the cia reduce their support offered to jlp/psoj simply because things was changing world wide, the USSR was on the verge of collapse, there was no incentive for the cia to continue helping the local elites.The window of opportunity for Manley to make a major change in the system was already closed(and might be closed forever)even Manley realized that his ideas was basically dead and he himself began to look to a form of capitalism.

I don't know about unable,but definitely more difficult,but if there is a will there is always a way.They have proven their resourcefulness by finding a way to influence the Patterson/Omar government ,the result high interest rates ,some of which are unheard of any where else in the world.

Probably because they Underestimated the mood of the voters?
Or they have other means of keeping their lakeys in power? It is not always about who the representatives are.
It is about the policies.
They don't care if the politicians claim they are devils,or saints.
As long as the policies maintain Jamaica as a farm colony for developed countries.
As long as Jamaica does not develop industries that are able to utilize the intellect of the country.
they want our raw materials for their industries.
In all it's forms.
They want our graduates.
They want our raw materials and they want the profits from whatever commerce fconducted in the island.

Jamaicans are not supposed to benefit from the country.

There was a old saying back in jamaica ,i dont remember it word for word,but it go someting like dis..PNP time or JLP time ,is still<span style="font-weight: bold"> MATTA-LAND</span> TIME. I think the saying came about because even though manley was trying to change the system he still had to do business with<span style="font-weight: bold"> MATTA-LAND</span> although he did so grudgingly .

The family members were equally active in both parties.

Although they're otherwise involved in business together.

The rulers are only intrested in maintaining the status quo.

Even though Danni and others might be considered &quot;rich&quot; they are what is called &quot;new money&quot;,NEW money does have the same influence as old money ,this has been the case from time in memorial.OLINT Boss ,<span style="font-weight: bold">David smith</span> was considered new money ,even his millions of usa dollars , could not save him,,from the banks and other financial institutions who thought he getting too big for his britches.

It and have always been about power.

Newsflash Dr. Clueless tried that already and it led to high interests rates for going on over a decade now.
In an economy built on Ponzi Paper a cess on banks and interests from GOJ Paper without a carefully negotiated deal would just be foolish.
