Ed Bartlett, Tourism Minister. The decision by the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA) to waive air navigation charges for small aircraft entering the country, has received the thumbs up from Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett.
According to Mr. Bartlett, the removal of the fee will stimulate the high-end tourism market already popular in countries like the Bahamas.
The Tourism Minister says the high-end tourism market holds tremendous possibilities for substantially growing revenues from tourism and the move by the JCAA to waive the tax will make Jamaica, attractive to those tourists who would prefer to fly in on their own private jets.
The Civil Aviation Authority last week announced the waiving of air navigation fee applicable to all general and commercial operators of aircraft weighing at or less than 12,500 pounds or 5,700 kilograms.
