Who is Mark Shields?

I must have been under a bridge or something because I was completely unaware that an englishman was deputy commissioner of police in charge of crime in Jamaica. Just heard it on the Power 106 news on the internet.

Aparently there is also a new Police commish as well. Someone named Thomas. Heard him just now on the news claiming he has a plan to reduce murders. can you imagine ever hearing such a ridiculous statement coming from leadership quarters? unless he is the one committing them or has influence on the persons committing them, how is he going to reduce murders? yes dem did bring down sheilds( i believe he was instramantal in the kraal investigation) an gi him a job as DCP

dem just hire another english bredda and about to apoint him also DCP ( and dem sey two or three more foreigners to come)


the target set by commish thomas is very modest an can be easily achieved simply as he said by the rapid deployment of personell to areas of unrest....they know that a large portion fo murders are retaliations.so when somthign happens in an area failure to act usually allows followup crimes...moving intot he are will help to deter( not stop but deter for a while) there retaliatory murders

Funny thing is Sheilds is doomed to failure then the nay sayers will say see... He pushed through Kraal... I doubt without his effors it would have got that far... Then the the jurors found the police men innocent and reinstated them.. funny thing that only sheilds seemed to think out the process something was wrong..... A woman under a bed dying.....

the other prosecution witnesses were all there and for the fear of their lives, they do not live in Jamaica anymore, although I`m not sure about the little girl.
Shields, if the runnings gets too hot can always go back to whence he came.

There had been various people calling for years for outside help. Sheilds was brought in as an answer... I actually think that there should be help.. But not in Mr Sheilds job. The main development shoulf have been to get the police trained. Get the police training updated. Policing is not the only problem, the courts and punishment.... His job was too much spin... Yet did he participate in bringing the policemen to trial for Kraal ?

All of this requires funds, there are simply none...

We are mixing up too many things here.
The Kraal matter was separate and, even with so-called overseas involvement the trial seemed to have been very sloppily handled (not that Shields and Co had anything to do with that, but the overseas component was limited to mostly technical evidence that seemed to have flown way over the heads of everyone, including the judge).

Operation KingSpin was largely a British effort to stop drugs from the Caribbean [i](mainly from Jamaica)[i] getting into Britain. The Jamaican Government desperate for some help with their image,( if not for the actual reduction in crime, hurriedly signed onto it) and have conned themselves and the media into believing that this is a panacea for our ills.

The question is looking at Operation KingSpin what exactly has it accomplished?
Of the 82 so-called violent Gangs that were mentioned and which were supposed to be targeted what percentage has Operation KingSpin played even a peripheral role in neutralizing?
One the ones that is has lay claim to destroying, what are the facts, has this led to demonstrative results, viz a viz the reduction of violent crimes?

On Sunday I was on the phone for hours listening to the various permutations in the violent war that has cropped up in my area.
The police themselves seem to be a part of the problem and not quite the solution. I can with certainty say that no one in this section of ****ty-Killsome believes that the police can offer him or her any protection
