ST. CATHERINE

A tree was discovered partially covered with ice in the vicinity of Point Hill St. Catherine on Tuesday.

The phenomenon which was observed from about 10 a.m. attracted scores of onlookers throughout the day. The tree is located in the thick brush by the side of the road. The ice appeared to be melting slowly, even in the face of the mid-afternoon heat. Some of those present said it was a sign from God.

An uxplained local weather phenomena or a refrigerated truck left with its door open or aliens or visitors from the future after all time displacments causes a dramatic drop in temeperature as the presence of a worm hole absrobes all energy are my alternativ explanations instead of god..

However a friend of mine thirty odd years ago claimed that when he took a shower at boarding school in St Elizabeth chunks of ice came out the shower instead of water... hail can fall anywhere. It is not related to the low level temps,but the temps aloft which is cold enough to freeze even over the hottest places on earth.
hail is formed usually hundreds of miles away,and carried by the winds only to excape wherever in falls. usuallt during a thunder storm.

with acute global weather changes and knowing that up at Point Hill`s elevation it can be blouse and skirt COLD, nothing is surprising these days.
Perhaps at 10am the bar mistress from up ah top was defrosting har non no-frost fridge and depositing the ice through her window where it fell in the thicket below, hence the phenomenon of ice in Jamaica at 10am in May.

IT MAY well be years before the citizens of Beach Front at Nine Miles, Bull Bay, forget the odd visit of thousands of small Mangrove-type crabs.

"Mi think a God a come," one woman holding a baby exclaimed.

The residents said they noticed the little crabs during the night when they fell in pairs from the ceiling, and crawling upon their bodies. Women grabbed their children and families abandoned their homes.

"Mi fraid, fraid, mi haffi run out wid mi baby!" Dawn, one Beach Front resident told The Sunday Gleaner. Fortunately, the creatures did not bite and appeared to be harmless and most of them were killed by the intense heat of the sun.

Dr. Karl Akin of the University of the West Indies said the incident was a very unusual phenomenon which may be linked to the odd sea floor in St. Thomas, and Saturday morning's full moon.
