First Caribbean employee no longer employed to the bank
Despite Tuesday's announcement by First Caribbean Bank that no information was leaked by any of its employees, the RJR News Centre has learnt that the person who was initially accused of releasing the information affair is no longer employed to the Bank.
The female employee had been sent on administrative leave in the midst of the Trafigura affair but returned days later while the incident was being investigated.
Wednesday senior officials of the Bank including Managing Director, Milton Brady, his assistant Robert Wright and Human Resource Manager Jerome Griffiths were reportedly unavailable for comment on the former employee.
Other bank staffers refused to comment on the case and referred our News Centre to a release which it issued Tuesday.
In that statement First Caribbean said it completed its probe and determined that no information was leaked by any of its employees.
According to the Bank its investigations proved that that it complied with the law.
However the Bank said it uncovered evidence that one of its employees procured confidential information on a customer account at another bank.
The Bank did not say if the information was linked to the Trafigura affair.
First Caribbean insisted that the appropriate disciplinary action was taken against the bank employee who was found in breach of its internal policies.
No details on the Bank's action were made public.
Efforts to reach the former First Caribbean employee on Wednesday were unsuccessful.
However sources told our News Centre that the matter could be headed to court as she was discussing the issue with her lawyer.
