JEF rep wants Redundancy Act replaced
Jamaica Employer's Federation representative on the Income Tax Threshold Committee, Everald Dewar, is suggesting that the Redundancy Act be removed.
He is recommending that it be replaced with unemployment insurance.
According to Mr. Dewar, numerous businesses experience a downturn forcing owners to make positions redundant.
He says often there is no money to pay for the cost of redundancies.
