JEF rep wants Redundancy Act replaced



Jamaica Employer's Federation representative on the Income Tax Threshold Committee, Everald Dewar, is suggesting that the Redundancy Act be removed.

He is recommending that it be replaced with unemployment insurance.

According to Mr. Dewar, numerous businesses experience a downturn forcing owners to make positions redundant.

He says often there is no money to pay for the cost of redundancies.

The best idea i see comming from that group. They are always so selfish nad closeminded,as if they thhink that they can make money without working pleople being able to spend money with them.
unless workers ourchasing power can afford it,you can't make money.
This idea of replacing the redundancy payment with unemploymenty insurance,with contribution from employers is a sound one. if it is properly planned and implemented.
