I have a minor issue with Chinese spread across the globe.. I beleive that they have the right to trade and their people have a right to development. And their investment is an alternative to liberal western... Their cheap manufacturing base disproved one of the tenants that Africa is simply poor.. with the take up of manufavctured goods in Africa increased as the buying power was amplified.. For instance in Fransker film the increase in sales of Motor Bikes in Chad....shows the myth of African poverty is not quite that simole
I beleive their people are as smart as me and they have to right to compete with me... However I am aware that their adherence to fair pay out and workers conditions. I dont comment on how they treat their own workers in China. However as they expand their investment into Africa and the else where will this expectation that the local workers wiill work to Chinese pay and work conditions.. Last night listening to the election coverage I became aware that there may be an issue with workers right as the Chinese go into the sugar industry in Jamaica.
This may be the first time that I have heard a journalist identify a problem and come up with a coherent solution.. Too often the west have address how they see the expansion of china simply from a fiscal aproach.. Last night the panel came up with an innovative solution..
Bring in Unions into the WTO process...so the question of equality workers rights across the board is looked at...
The idea is good however given the bloodymindness of the unions.. They tend to see things simply from a marxist paradigm of capital versus labour.. Thisi not what is needed...
