Goldings to visit Atlanta

Atlanta, Georgia:

Opposition Leader Bruce Golding and his wife Lorna, will pay a four-day visit to Atlanta, Georgia, from February 28 to March 3. They will be accompanied by Opposition Spokesman on Finance, Audley Shaw and Senator Shirley Williams.

Mr. Golding will be met on arrival at the Hartfield Jackson International Airport by Jamaica's honorary Consul to Atlanta, Vin Martin, and former Jamaica Labour Party Senator now residing in Atlanta, Dr. David Panton. The Opposition leader will be in Atlanta at the invitation of the recently formed Bustamante Atlanta Southern Associates.

The visit has been dubbed 'A Vision For Building a Better Jamaica'.

While in Atlanta, Mr. Golding will pay a courtesy call on Georgia's Governor Sonny Perdue and Atlanta's Mayor Shirley Franklyn and will address a fund-raising reception at the Capital Club in downtown Atlanta.

A Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) team, headed by leader Bruce Golding is now in Atlanta, United States for a two-day visit.</span>

<span style="color: #000000">The team, which included the opposition leader's wife, Lorna, spokesperson on finance Audley Shaw, and spokesperson for industry, commerce and investment promotion Senator Shirley Williams, was yesterday scheduled to make courtesy calls on Ambassador Andrew Young of Goodworks International, Georgia's Governor Sonny Perdue and Atlanta's Mayor Shirley Franklin.

They were also to meet with members of Atlanta's business community at a business leaders' breakfast, attend a fund-raising reception and be a part of several media interviews including one with the Atlanta affiliate of CBS, a major American media network.

Today, Golding and his party are again slated to have several media interviews, attend a business luncheon and address a community town-hall meeting with members of the Jamaican Diaspora at the Georgia Perimeter College, Clarkston Campus.</span>

<span style="color: #003333">Golding and his party are scheduled to return to Jamaica tomorrow.

Several business groups sponsored the visit of the team, the JLP said.</span>

Next time they hold an event make it on a Sunday or Saturday or give a longer notice, so I can get away!

Was in Atlanta and attended the function (even though I had to leave early). The theme was not a JLP vs PNP event, but a diaspora reaching out event. Pretty well attended with a lot of interacting with Mr. G.
