PNP stands behind Party President Portia Simpson Miller
The People's National Party (PNP) is standing firm behind its leader Portia Simpson Miller, in the face of mounting criticism of her first year in office.
The party's six regional executive councils held meetings across the island Sunday and passed resolutions lauding Mrs Simpson-Miler's leadership of party and government over the past year.
The resolution heralded the party's intention to secure Mrs. Simpson Miller her own mandate and first term in government in elections constitutionally due in October.
Sunday marks the first anniversary of the Prime Minister's election to the post of PNP President.
In a statement, PNP General Secretary Donald Buchanan said the strong turnout of REC members was testament to the party's commitment to ensuring a successful enumeration process which ends on March 31.
He added that the REC will canvass every division across the island to ensure victory in the upcoming polls.
