Mavado and Vybz Kartel have decided to make peace.
The meeting was reportedly overseen by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mark Shields, and both artistes have decided to host a press conference to make public, their new friendship. Whether this truce is even genuine, we are not sure, but the gesture is a positive one. If the men are pretending because they want to see an end to the violence that some say their musical rivalry has influenced, then all is well. Let us just hope they will take what they are doing seriously and conduct themselves in an admirable manner.
The police should also be commended for this move. Finally, they have realised that the feud is spiralling out of control and moving way beyond music, and have decided to do something about it - or at least, try to do something about it. It is good to see such a proactive move. Stopping the 'war' before it escalates into something even uglier is very important and it is good to see that the police have realised this.
