Government to tackle land titling issues
The Government has announced that it's taking steps to tackle more land titling issues this year.
The latest commitment comes from the Minister of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change, Robert Pickersgill, as he addressed a
Land Administration and Management Programme (LAMP) title handing over ceremony Thursday at the St. Elizabeth Technical High School.
He explained that the Government is concerned that the majority of landowners still do not have registered titles for the
property they occupy, and that titled land ownership which remains an elusive dream for ordinary Jamaicans cannot continue.
At the ceremony roughly 50 residents from the parish received land titles for property that they occupy.
Custos of St. Elizabeth, Wilfred Nembhard, commended the work of LAMP, noting that the programme is a key spoke in the wheel of
rural development.
