Former employee of the Financial Sector Adjustment Company (FINSAC), Nacasha Edwards, was offered bail in the sum of $600,000 when she appeared in the Half Way Tree Criminal Court Thursday morning.
The 27-year-old woman was charged on Monday following investigations into the theft of more than $2 million from the coffers of FINSAC.It is alleged that Miss Edwards who was employed as an accounting officer stole blank cheques which were later forged with the signatures of signing officers at FINSAC.
Investigators further allege that more than $2 million was encashed by Miss Edwards.
The fraud squad was called in after the management of FINSAC uncovered the fraud.
The Financial Crimes Division is also investigating Miss Edwards for possible money laundering charges.
She is due to return to court on July 17.
