When statements are made on this board that are against the rules to keep it in the board while reprimanding the poster about it.
I really do not need a quorum to act, because this is not a committee.
That statement was specially directed to TuffGong He knows what he did, and I have no reason to make it public.
So all of you who have axe to grind, can grind on. But TuffGong knows what he did. I directed the warning to him and that is enough.
I dont know since when I have to to explain my action to posters who it is not directed at. Why is it up to now all Tuff Gong said was his usual, about people conspiring against him, for mo reason.

I am computer literate enough to be able to inactivate them technically if i wanted to. I would not need to act as primitive as you are suggesting. this is not my life.

Doc Dudd casted an assertion that the KPH was a slave hospital.
Tuff Gong disputed it and asked for proof.
In all my days 50 times 365 I never read nor heard that the KPH was a slave hospital.
What I do know is that a man, Bowerbank built the KPH and dedicated it to the PEOPLE of Kingston.
Whether slaves were treated there or not, I know that a certain Governor was treated there during colonial times.
I also know that none of our present day leaders would be found going there other than to visit some poor patient.
In this advanced stage in Jamaica`s history, parliamentarians have the privelige that the people do not have.
That is a medical package that shunts them by air to a medical facility(s) in the USA.

By saying the KPH was a slave hospital I think is incorrect.
Slaves weren`t afforded freedom much less a hospital.
If one wishes to refer our working class masses as being present day slaves, then yes, the KPH is today a Slave Hospital.

I made a statement of fact. The last time I read it Kingston Public hospital was 228 years old and started as a place to take slaves to be 'repaired so that they could go back to work to make Britain what it is today and Jamaica still paying the cost.
So I did not take my valuable time to look up my source,but that is no reason for Tuff Gong to use crude language in personal attack towards me.
So a whole clique decide to take it up on themselves to attack the moderator.
That is not my business.
Now you have decided to take it on. Hey every one have the right to act, and an equal right to accept the result of their actions.
It goes for me and it goes for every body everywhere they are, or think they are.

I can see that you don't know the philosophy of slavery against the black man.
Whipping was used just as it was on Jamaican Kids. Slaves where whipped for many reason, but mostly to show him his place. Whipping was to discourage slaves from feigning illness so that they can get treated in the hospital
It was all about economics. And slaves were not considered people. they were treated no better than a beast of burden.

If walls could talk - The history of Kingston, even Jamaica, is inextricably linked to the 228-year-old Kingston Public Hospital

IF THE walls of the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) could talk, what tales they would tell! They would talk unendingly of tales of tramcars, the great fires in Kingston, riots (the pivotal 1938 riot), adult suffrage, the impact here of the two World Wars, the 1907earthquake and its 30,000 casualties, the 1850 cholera outbreak, the country's movement from colonialism to independence, and so on.

But since walls cannot talk, let those who have graced KPH's halls do the talking. They have done so in the book Kingston Public Hospital: The High Seat of Medicine in Jamaica, edited by Dr. John Hall and the late Hector Wynter (Publishers: Pelican Publishers).

"It was (established) before the independence of the U.S., to serve the settlers," said Dr. Hall. "Many of the town's people regarded the hospital as a nuisance."

By settlers he meant the country's white population, as slaves and black people gene-rally were not allowed in the hospital until after Emancipation in 1838. Slaves were treated on sugar plantations' 'hothouses'. Some patients had to pay bribes to enter the hospital as during the 1800s, the hospital had no out-patient departments and applications for admissions were processed by subordinates who would reject them, claiming that the hospital was full. How times have changed.

Yet, the more things change, the more they remain the same. Issues of inadequate staffing, sanitation and location were always on the table. Discussions about the location of the hospital has been ongoing. It was officially established in 1776 (by a Bill ratified with the Governor's signature). The then Jamaica House of Assembly allowed a sum of £800 for the purchase of the site of the hospital and a further £1,000 per annum voted for its maintenance. It was not only a hospital but an almshouse and later a mental asylum. It has since divested itself of some of these responsibilities growing into the major multidisciplinary health facility.

RELOCATE KPH

Dr. Hall said that the hospital was first located at the corner of East and North streets and that the location has always been regarded as 'unfavourable' too many pedestrians and too much bombardment from the loud noises from the neighbourhood. That discussion about location and relocation of the hospital has been unending (and at various times came close to implementation); the island's current crime wave has only given it a new twist. The current argument, we learn from the book's authors, contends that the hospital should be relocated to a more central area which is less intimidating to patients, visitors and staff.

Dr. Trevor McCartney, KPH's current Senior Medical Officer (SMO), is quoted as saying that "you cannot have a major hospital in the middle of a housing development, and even if there is a neutral zone or an empty space surrounding the hospital, there still should be no housing development on the periphery."

If not North Street, then where else could this large, multidisciplinary hospital possibly be located? The authors have pointed to some suggestions within the medical ranks to the large open space adjacent to the Nuttall Hospital or to the open space across from the Tom Redcam Library, owned by the Anglican Diocese in Jamaica.

However persuasive the relocation lobbyists may be, it seems that that move is hardly on the cards of those who can make that decision as about one and a half million dollars were spent in the 1990s to refurbish the hospital in the current location. The refurbishment has improved a lot of the hospital's infrastructure and aesthetics, to make it worthy of the title "The island's premier medical institution."

There is, of course, much more to the book Kingston Public Hospital: The High Seat of Medicine in Jamaica, a good compilation of the history of one of Jamaica's most outstanding institutions.

First thing that is inaccurate about that 'reformed history. Blacks were not allowed in KPH after slavery,Because they rtefused to work on th eplantations. Why would the planters that wewas the government allow sick blacks to use the free hospital if they refused to work on the plantations?
Now you tell me who in their right unbiased mind could believe that?

Dont be too sure about that. I am quite aware of the exploits of Willie Lynch and the advice he suggested to slave owners that rather than killing their slave property, there were other means of enforcing their power.

Gleaner have an investment in keeping Jamaica's true history along ceertain ;ines. The history is intact for the most part in the Institute of Jamaica West India reference Library and UWI.

Why would they allow slaves to be treated in that hospital given the mindset of the time when they had other places and means of `repairing` them.

I have read it as recent as last year in a new research paper done by a Jamaica in Britain.
The cruelty that slaves ha to undergo. You probably will believe it is fiction that Jamaica during slavery had at least one slaver riot on a plantation per week.

That is very true given the type of nonsense they publish from time to time to this day.
They really seem at times to be in league with the powers that be to keep Jamaicans divided and ignorant for what reason, God knows.

To merely shrug off Goldings JLP manifesto as a "Plethora of Promises" is all in keeping with the PNP theme, "Not Changing No Course"
To keep things the same, business as usual.
What more contempt can there be shown for Jamaicans.

Not at all. I`d believe they had it daily at slave riots zenith.

At least a Gleaner Editor, HD DeLisser wrote a book, Psyche.
Perhaps a mild description of the reality during those 100s of years, but never the less a story with much truth to it that most writers of the time would have shunned.
