Starts this evening between Dr. Ken Baugh and Dr. Peter Phillips.

I would like to think that Power 106 FM will carry it live for internet users to tune in.

I know that Nationwide Jamaica on the AM band will carry it with Cliff Hughes and Emily Crooks, but not sure if they`re accessible on the net.

Friday evening it will be Audley Shaw and Omar Davis.

Closing the tri-debate on Saturday will be party leaders Bruce and Portia.

No one on the BB seems too interested to listen. Yet yu want to vote from weh yu deh.

Since Tuff Gong is "on vacation" I'll do a bit of filling in for him as regards the "debates" between the two twin parties of no-change.

I'll read about the debates after they're over rather than sit through the blah-blah-blah.
I'm sure many on the board will present the salient points made and I've watched enough of the debates here in the U.S. to make me sure of my position in saying that all the candidates presented by the two parties are less than worthless.

Jamaica's two major parties offer nothing in the way of change and the debates never mean anything. Once the elections are done, things go back to the same way they were REGARDLESS of who or which party takes power.

You haven't seen this in the past 60 years?

Well the debates wqeren`t debates to say the least. It was a presentation by the 2 opposing party officials, then there were 45 second rebutals for each and one question allowed per person.

So it went like a recital which led to boredom because there was nothing new from what we have been hearing all long with the JLP at least having a manifsto to base on and the PNP having performance or non performance to base on.

Two more so-called debates to come and JC is right. Much a do about nothing.

Portia Simpson Miller showed up all her short comings.
Worst, where is the charisma that it is said that she has?
She had no attention to detail.
Asked how would she fund the newly introduced free hoapital fees for children, she mere lsaid that the ministry of finance was dealing with it and by his assurance she was fully behind the new introduction.
She dont know one damm thing. She dont know how and she dont know where.

Golding on the other hand was a master of debates even though I was informed that audley shaw ran rings around his counterpart the night before, omar davis.
Golding`s presentation was detailed and substantiated by facts and figures. He unlike the Madam Prime Minister cut into much depth on all his subject matters, while she could barely skim on the surfaces.

Anyhow this man and the JLP do not get the mandate to prove themselves, dawg nyam wi supper.

i'm thinking the tribalism is tooo ingrained ..

A lot was revealed by the debates. I for one did not realize how inept Madam Mother Portia was on public issues both national and international. By viewing the debate with Bruce Golding and Mother of her children Portia, people should now see for themselves how much one has class as against the other who has hardly any but for hugs and kisses and claiming that she is a mother to her children.
If this is a leader that was borne out of the Manley era, it shows up the true ineptitude that he Michael also had when he mashed up Jamaica with his experimental politics in the 70s.
We have already seen one of his pupils. PJ Patterson.

Sinco, the educated ambitious youngsters of Jamaica are seeking change. They have virtually grown as PNP children becauise they never lived during a JLP administration.

The JLP unlike previous JLP administrations has a leader that is new and different.

What else do we really need otheer than to break that unhealthy yoke of political tribal allegiance that has no substance and allegiance to Jamaica a nation begging for enlightenment and aims towards global and universal quality targets.

To say that we have more car and cell phone is an indictment on the intelligence of people who know better and deserve better than a politics that redistributes wealth plucked from a golden goose that has been plucked to the bone by a politics that only Mugabe`s in Zimbabwe seems worst.

We have what we have and we will always strive for better and not surrender and never yield because enough is never going to be enough.
