if, as you say, no one seems to be interested in who will win the end of the month elections, I would guess that it is due to the readers and posters understanding (at long last) that it makes either no difference or so little difference in their lives whether the JLP or PNP wins.
It has been amply pointed out that neither has a viable plane for fixing the problems that beset Jamaica.
Both parties are firmly attached to both neo-liberal capitalism and a top down (non-democratic) electoral system neither of which serves the common man nor the best interests of Jamaica as a whole.

Both parties have had their opportunities to change things. Both parties have made things either worse in most cases or only very slightly better in a few instances.

That said, everyone should get out and vote for the best person for the job and if the candidates of the two leading parties are both unsuitable, then vote for any of the third or fourth party candidates if available or cast a blank ballot as a protest.

In the political systems in both the U.S.A. and Jamaica we all get about a minute of participatory democracy in the time it takes to vote. Small as that time is and as small as the effect we have, it is the only place we can have any effect within the failed systems so we have a duty to do what we can.

Just don't vote for the same old, same old.

As someone once said: "It is better to vote for what you want and not get it than to vote for what you don't want and get it."

Forget the "lesser of two weevils" way of thinking forget the JLP and PNP and vote your conscience.

Vote for change.

I'd consider running for office in Jamaica if:
1) Jamaica had a socialist party
2) Jamaica had a democratic electoral system similar to Cuba's Poder Popular wherein nominees are selected by the voters and not by any party
3) non-residents were eligible
4) in the unlikely event that Jamaicans would vote for an "outsider" or someone with plans for serious change. (Remember Michael Manley?)
5) The CIA or gangsters associated with the two parties did not assassinate me.
