I said this to Remo on the 14/08

Election Predictor - 5 seats either way. Though I am happy to be wrong

I do not think this is done or dusted just yet though on the face of it momentum seems with the JLP.

However, there will need to be substantive swings from last election and the PNP may have stuff in the tank.

I haven't yet seen the killer punch. See the article in Jamaica Elections 2007 website about those on the ground about how they view the debates. It is interesting reading.

Less than 3 [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70390-shhh.gif[/img] - where was the 40 that some predicted. The Pollsters were pretty well right in the end!!!

That said a win is a win and still not fully in the bag - I hope this does not rumble on for days.

There might be a few more twists and turns on this one but I think on the face of it the JLP will form the next governent.

Let's see what Portia does...

I think the PNP will have to be dragged kicking and screaming to the acceptance that they have lost - however by so narrow a margin. Portia is sounding like a sore loser, in sharp contrast to Bruce Golding - as I listened to the coverage on Power 106 FM internet broadcast - who gave, in my opinion, the most statesmanlike speech possibly in the history of Jamaican politics. The PNP will use every legal and political weapon in its arsenal to a try to overturn what is clearly the expressed will of the people.

My home constituency of NW St Andrew remained in JLP hands but I'm a little disappointed that they weren't able to clench Central Manchester from the PNP. But overall, I'm happy to see what will most likely be the end of 18 years of mediocrity, ineptitude, corruption and arrogance. Happy riddance!

Should the JLP form the next government, as it most likely will do, all eyes will be upon them. They will have to work as they have never worked before and deliver REAL results. Their challenge is to foster significant economic growth, substantially reduce crime, poverty, and unemployment, improve the country's infrastructure and attract substantial investments. They must do these things if they hope not to be sent out into the wilderness in five years. I think they are smart enough to realize this.

I think that was big to say that. Thanks and I agree the JLP now has a chance but it has got to be governing for the many not the few. Let's see how Mutty squares up being crtical friend!

I wished that PSM would have been a little more magnanimous but hey it is a bittersweet symphony.

Perhaps because of her disgraceful post election speech at PNP HQ, about "not gwine mek criminals...." there are many acts of defiance by hard core PNP supporters such as the blocking of roads and gunmen gone loco.

Offices and businesses in Kingston were closed by 3pm because of the pending mayhem.

Recounts today has given it to the JLP up from 31 to 33 seats and still no word from the mad woman conceding.

In Central Manchester the JLP was up against two power houses the Skeng and Peter. With Skeng supplying both muscle and money Ms. Porteous put up a real good fight, but don’t be surprise if things changes on the re-count rumor have it Bunting lost on the recount, so let’s wait and see.

Yes, I'm well aware of the Skeng Dong machinery in Central Manchester. He has a lock on all public works contracts in that constituency. But, based on my knowledge, the town of Mandeville is overwhelmingly JLP, but the outer areas (outside of the Mandeville town limits) - Porus, Bellefield, Knockpatrick, etc - are predominantly PNP; I think that's how the PNP has always held on to that constituency. But let's see how the recount goes.
