I have to say that I was really disappointed at PSM's comments - I just felt that this defeat had dealt a huge blow for her personally. I have some sympathy. She seems in denial and unfortunately that spirit of 'draw mi tongue' reared itself with the 'criminal' comment.

I have to say that Portia really could have been at Jamaica House if she had the advisers and parties support.

I hope that Portia might still stick around to serve the nation - the charisma she has is still needed.

Is there room for Portia in public life in Jamaica after this defeat?

This is not the end of her political career; she is still an MP - to be an opposition back-bench MP which, in Jamaican politics, is a few notches down from a government back-bench MP. Perhaps she should devote her time to addressing the real needs of her constituents, most of whom are in abject poverty - why they continued voting for her over the years would have been mind-boggling had it not been Jamaican politics we're talking about here.

Ironically, it is Bruce Golding's plan of allotting a certain annual sum to MPs despite their status as back-benchers or not, to address the needs of their constituencies, that if given a chance to work, could allow Mrs Miller to do some real work for those whom she represents.

She did such a poor job during the debate it might have swung the election to the JLP..
Although labourites like you went home to vote in droves illegally I suppose

The Observers Editorial today is one worth reading. I think the die is cast. However, here's a possible combination for you pundits.

Peter Philips - Next PNP leader
Maxine Henry Wilson - Deputy Leader.

I think this is 2012's PNP ticket. I really do not see at 66 Portia fighting for the Premiership - let alone being Party leader. There needs to be some Soul Searching.

However, they will need to move swiftly in the next year. I would send Portia to the Senate. I am not sure where Portia can be placed except as Leader of the Senate as a possibility or some profile overseas.

What say any of you all.
