Re: 'Register or leave' - Charles gives foreign workers with
i don't want to rock the boat or offend anyone but i think they should be careful how they proceed with this. Many of these illegal foreign workers are also illegal investors in this country and Jamaica can ill afford to lose any source of income or investment. Lack of access to jobs is a huge problem here but once access is available the work pool is woefully undertrained and sometimes untrainable.
I can understand law enforcement but harsh treatment like deportation in 10 days for individuals who may have built lives here is a bit much. A 3 month grace period and forced registration of all farrin workers would be more acceptable than just kicking everyone and their money out. My understanding is they have been rather harsh with folks here in Negril and many expats are talking about how this effects them and their plans here.
Why blame farrin workers for lack of jobs when the reality is that education is what holds people back from good jobs in this country. Wouldn't matter how many better jobs you add to this country if a majority of the population doesn't have the skillset necessary to do the job.
The politicians in this country maintain control over the people by keeping them ignorant. Thats why they blame non issues like farrin workers for stealing their jobs when its the politicians who stole their education. It's criminal the repression the orange and green teams have laid around here and my opinion is flush them all.
Here is a lesson in social conditioning for you. In Jamaica they wear school uniforms. One of the biggest reasons for wearing uniforms in school is supposed to be that the kids are all the same and the focus is on the education, not the wardrobe. Thats not how it goes in JA though, here each school and therefore each neighborhood/class has it's own color. Kids are taught at an early age to side with a color. Ask yourself why next election and you'll better understand how they control.
I wonder what percentage of this country votes orange or green and signs with an X because the cannot write their own name? They spend more money on full size political billboards with icons teaching the illiterate to vote than they do teaching the illiterate to read or why they vote.
