100000 bbl of oil a day subsidy. say the Cubans only pay $20 per bbl then there must be over 300000 Cubans working in Venezuela.... Given that is $500 per month rate for each Cuban... Given that they get paid $100.00 per month.....

Cuba much admired,never be copied..... Jamaicas economy has been under reported by at least 30 for the last 20 years so the verasity of the numbers .... Ask any Jamaican to compare wht they to the tax they pay....

ALL of Cuba's people have their needs guaranteed and met by their government and by their economic system not just the rich or fortunate sons in the rest of Latin America and the Caribbean (except of course, Barbados and the Bahamas which have no poor people at all). Cuba's socialist economy is burgeoning, not failing.

Jamaica under its present two parties and its outmoded economic system will NEVER achieve what Cuba has in the same period of time it has had its TRUE independence from colonialism and Jamaica has had its false independence.

Keeping the same sort of top-down government and top-down economy and just changing who is at the top of the government is not much of a change .

That said, I don't know why you are getting so riled. You are getting exactly the type of government and economic system that you support so vociferously and Jamaicans, on the whole, thoroughly agree with you.

As you so often point out, Jamaica bettered itself under the JLPin the past.
They are in power now and now Jamaicans can look forward to a much better life.

So Jamaica is an economic basket case and Cuba's economy is soaring with an 11% GDP growth rate last year but I'm a liar.

Your solution to Jamaica's problems is to reinstall the JLP which has usually reverted to trickle-down economic programs to build the economy and which don't work in the U.S. and absolutely cannot work in a developing country like Jamaica.
Singapore, sure Barbados, okay but these are the exceptions to the rule and Jamaica, due to the levels of debt, corruption and violence is NOT an exception.

On what do you pin your hopes for reform and recovery if not on the same failed policies and party politrix that have put Jamaica in the spot it is in?

What will you be saying in four years when things are no different?

Sorry I always thought you thought Jamaica had a socialist government under Manley. I was in error.

You did say in response to my saying that Jamaica never had a socialist economy that:
"More nonsense Jamaica had Free Health Care, Free Education right up to the 80s"

Of course Jamaica had SOCIAL welfare programs but they were contained within a capitalist economy. The United States would never have permitted a truly socialist Jamaica especially given that Cuba had stymied them and look what they did to Grenada with Jamaica's help because of the leftist bent of that government in 1983 and to Chile in 1973, Nicaragua in the 80's, El Salvador etc.
A socialist Jamaica at the height of the Cold War and in the middle of extensive U.S. interventions was not possible.
