Members of the Police Officers' Association Executive have been called to a meeting Monday morning to discuss the appointment of Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin as the new Commissioner of Police.

When contacted by our newscentre Sunday night, head of the Association, Superintendent Norman Heywood declined to give a comment on the appointment.

He says the executive of the association will not make a statement until a formal announcement has been made.

However, he says Monday's meeting is being called to explore the Police Officers' Association's next course of action.

In the wake of speculation weeks ago that an outsider would have been appointed to the post of top cop, the Police Officers' Association had threatened to take the matter to court.

</div></div> So lets study a possoibillity where there are no military because thgemilitary has been succesfully merged in th epolice force. and the police services commission appoints a police cheif that they dont' favour. They decides that they may just strike. No they wonnt do that,because they know that they have the sole abulluty to maintain order. Well these are good people,and they will always do what ios best for the country. this confirms that mergoinmg the military into th epolice force is a sound oidea,necause the members are patriotic Jamaicans that would not withdraw their ferc=vice. Ok I forgoit they have done it a number of times. they call ot sick out. Oh well, it's back to the drawing board.
