Peoples National Party (PNP) member, Percival Latouche, is calling for the Minister of National Security, Peter Bunting, to step aside if he is unable to stem the abuse of citizens by police.
It was a fiery Latouche, who lashed out at National Security Minister, Peter Bunting during a divisional conference for councilor for the Fellowship division Benny White at Windsor in Portland last evening.
He says the national security minister has failed to adequately tackle what he has termed as the high level of physical and verbal abuse by the police, who he claims are harassing law abiding citizens.
According to Latouche some senior police officers also appear to be making up laws as they go along allowing police personnel to operate with virtual impunity.
He is calling for Bunting’s intervention in the matter.
Latouche says if the national security minister is unable to ensure the practice ends, he should resign from the post.
