Another white man brought in to settle the natives,lets see how much progress he makes in this area,the issue of corrupt cops and extra judicial murders in Jamaica really grates with me,I certainly hopes he manages to make some kind of inroads into an area of Jamaican life I think really needs to be cleaned up.

Jamaica has never had a police force. It did not have one during colonialsm and it did nothing to create one during the 40 years of independence. At present it seems as if they have no inmtention to create one either. They have a military corp masquraiding as a civilian police force. In a police force the citizens (the majority) not the few that run the country. The majority citizens are considered the clientelle of the police. That means that the members of the department always display the highest level of courtesy to the citizenry. What Jamaicas and have always had,is a colonial force that treats the majority with resentmenta and disrespect in the process of suppressing their rights in th eintrest of the few elites that runs the country from their board rooms using the politicians a s opuppets.

You do have a point,the Jamaican police force does seem to act from a point of view of supressing human rights than protecting and serving the citizens,..although this is not just unique to Jamaica,I think the same kind of behaviour can be seen in places like Brazil.

However,what surprises me is the impunity in which police can kill suspects,even in broad daylight in front of numerous witnesses,..and get away with it,no questions asked,this kind of behaviour seems to be institutionalised in the police force,and obviously goes all the way to the top,or at least accepted as normal police work by those at the top.

That`s a very distressing scenario you paint,and one that makes me think that I will never see a drastic change to that kind of mindset in my lifetime,my only consolation is that my children have no wish to live or settle in Jamaica.

Just as how they decided that it was too costly to continnmue with overt skkavery. They will in due course realize that this human rights supression is costing them much more that it is worth. Then they will make just enough changes to allow enough humanrights to make the counntry livable,and their ripping off the factors of production anna profitable rate.

Yes the PNP brought in another British Cop and the JLP now is hugging it up instead of firing the other failures.
