The body of a man and a woman were found in bushes in Mount Salas, St Andrew on Friday morning.

It is reported that residents stumbled on the bodies and called the police.

The man has been identified as Taiwo McKenzie, a former librarian with RETV.

The body of the woman has not been identified.

Constable Natalie Lawrence of the Constabulary Communication Network, CCN said the throats were slashed

"Both bodies were found with hands bound and throat slashed. Tape was used to mask their faces. They were last seen alive last Wednesday, about nine o' clock in the morning;" she said.

It is alleged that on Wednesday they crashed into a MBike, the rider and the Pillion were injured.
They took them to hospital.
Somehow they ended up taking medicine to injured parson’s house, whereupon they were kidnapped.
They were taken to a BM where they withdrew his/her(?)savings.
They were not seen, reported missing, then found this morning.

Suspect in St. Andrew couple’s murder in custody

As the police intensify their investigation into the kidnapping and killing of a couple in St. Andrew, a suspect is now in custody. The suspect is said to be the brother of a popular DJ.

The bodies of 24-year-old Tyawo McKenzie and 23-year-old Jhanel White were found with the throats slashed in Mount Salus in St. Andrew Friday.

RJR News also understands that the police are in contact with the lawyers of the other suspect who is being sought for questioning.

The police are hoping that he will surrender soon.

According to reports on the incident, on Wednesday the couple's vehicle was involved in an accident with a motorcycle in the Constant Spring area.

A man who was a pillion rider on the motorcycle was injured and taken to the University Hospital.

Reports suggest that the couple made arrangement to take medication to the pillion rider at the Hospital and when they arrived there, they were forced into a car.

The couple was reportedly told to make contact with relatives and a ransom of US$100,000 was made for their safe return.

It is understood that the kidnappers also obtained the PIN for Ms White's banking card and reportedly withdrew $30,000 from her account.

The US ransom was not forthcoming and the kidnappers slashed the throats of the couple.

The suspect in custody is the pillion rider who was injured in accident.

A post mortem was scheduled to be carried out on the bodies Friday.
