Cabinet has given approval for a hefty increase in the fines for breaches of the regulations governing work permits.

"And the Ministry has been empowered to impose new fines up to one million dollars and six months so the matter is being very, very seriously handled because we have to bring this thing under control," said Mr. Charles.
He says the revised fines have been sent to the Chief Parliamentary Counsel for drafting instructions.
