<span style='font-family: Arial Black'>Police kill alleged UWI student </span>

Two men were reportedly shot, one fatally by the police at 12 Whyte Hall Avenue in the Red Hills road area Saturday.
The dead man, who has only been identified as 24-year old Shane, was reportedly a student of the University of the West Indies School of Continuing Studies.
<span style='font-family: Arial Black'>The shooting sparked protest by residents, who challenged the police's version of the incident.
Residents alleged that the police came onto the road, saw the men and took them into a yard.
The police reportedly shot the men in front of a 10-year old child, killing Shane on the spot and injuring the other.
The residents said they then dragged the injured man away and took him to the hospital.
One alleged eye witness said after shooting the men, one of the policemen reportedly threw a gun in the sand next to Shane's body.
The residents claim the eye witness was then run down by the police and hit with their service jeep.
She was also reportedly taken to hospital.</span>
But according to the police they responded to a report that men were firing guns in the area.
Crime chief for Area 5, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Denzil Boyd, told RJR News Centre that on there arrival at the premises, they accosted three men, one of whom pulled a firearm.
He said before the man could pull the trigger, he was shot by the police.
The other man fled and was arrested when he turned up at the Kingston Public Hospital with gunshot wounds.
DSP Boyd said the police seized a nine milimetre semi automatic pistol with six rounds from Shane.
