My `ducta friend in Gregory Park was shot dead by murderers as he walked out to work at 5AM yesterday.
This man as I knew him was not into any badness nor illicit business, yet they killed him as a reprisal on others who were in turn murdered in a neighbouring community.

same ting a taxi man did tell me the other day bout mountain view...him know people that doan mix up inna nuttin and dem still haffi walk and watch them back just because of where them live.

Astounding that this war takes place in Jamaica and nothing is been done about it.
Two adjoining communities snuffing out lives, one for one, whether innocent or not.
The minds behind this are no more than that of a human taking another human for being a bird or some piece of target practice.

Cordon and search operation in Gregory Park

The RJR News centre has been informed that a cordon and search operation is underway in the troubled community of Gregory Park St. Catherine.

About six o'clock, Friday morning joint/police military teams rolled into sections of the community which has seen a flare-up of gun violence in recent weeks.

Since Monday, 4 persons have been killed in the community.

A curfew imposed on sections of the St. Catherine community Thursday night, has been lifted.

Two killings took place Thursday, in what investigators theorize were reprisals.

Those killed were 23-year-old Kevin Bryan of Mitchell Drive and 51-yar-old bus conductor Glenroy Taylor both of Gregory Park addresses.

Meanwhile, three homemade firearms and molotov cocktail bombs were seized by the police during a raid in the community on Thursday.

Head of the St. Catherine South Police Division, Superintendent Terrence Bent, said the seizure was made at an abandoned premise.

Gregory Park is jealous and envious over folks who were re-located from a squatter development to a place called Gulf which is just north adjoining Gregory Park.

It gets more complicated with the fight over territory claimed by some of the young unemployed men who have nothing else to do but be a nusiance. These guys acquire guns and get their kicks by stomping over innocent people, driving fear into their lives, subjecting them to the rule of tyrany.
There is the political factor, where opposing factions align themselves to the parties who are guilty of harboring them because of the popularity involved amongst the majority young folks in the area.

But Q - don't you believe that there truly IS a way to reverse this?

I think so. After all it's certainly not impossible ...

I just don't think that there is

- the knowledge
- the will
- the money / resources

both from the community and the government, to do so.

Only way to reverse it is to stop preying on the minds of people in poverty and to give them opportunity and hope for better.
And to take the guns and the attitude/mentality away by pronuncing it as WRONG.
Leadership is required, real strong and overwhelming leadership of goodwill by God done by men.
